BRISTOL CITY have beaten out competition from Sunderland to secure the signature of Cheltenham Town striker Mohamed Eisa, writes Crippy Cooke.

The 24-year-old joins for an undisclosed fee and has signed a three-year deal at Ashton Gate, with the option for another year.

Eisa joined Cheltenham from Greenwich Borough and went on to make 50 appearances for the League Two side in all competitions, scoring an impressive 25 goals.

He won Cheltenham’s Player of the Year award for his efforts too.

His form for Town attracted the interest of several clubs this summer - with Portsmouth and Peterborough United believed to be keen - but Bristol City won the race and agreed a deal with the Robins.

City’s chief executive Mark Ashton revealed his delight to bring the highly-rated Sudan forward to Ashton Gate.

He said: “We are thrilled to have signed Mo.

“He was in superb form in the last campaign and we hope he can make another step up in the football ladder.”

Ashton added: “He is tall, athletic and a proven finisher.

“We believe he can become even better with the help of our coaching infrastructure.”
