LUKE Hedger travelled to Brands Hatch in Kent for the sixth round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, and this time round was much more successful for young Hedger after the disappointment two weeks ago at Knockhill when technical problems ruled him out of Sunday’s races.

This weekend, Hedger and team worked hard to get him comfortable and set up on the bike 1st free practice went ok he got a vital 20 laps under his belt and got some much-needed data, so the team could change the bike.

Free practice 2 threw a spanner in the works cause about 15 mins before the session was to start we had the only rain of the weekend, so Luke wasn’t able to test the new settings but on the up side of this Luke was 9th fastest so he knows he can do well in the rain.

Free practice 3 didn’t go to well he had a small issue with the bike which meant he had to keep coming into the pits to try to sort the issue out half way threw the session the team found that his fuel pump had broken and again the much-needed track time was cut short.

Saturday afternoon saw all the riders line up in the pit lane to take part in the qualifying.

And although Luke put in an amazing time, going a full second faster than he had all weekend, he couldn't get through to part 2.

Sunday saw thousands of fans through the gate to watch the superbike races at there best and although Luke didn’t have the best starting position for race 1, he showed true grit and determination pulling him self from 25th to 18th over all this was a brilliant result in his debut race.

Race 2 was very difficult because from lap 1 of the 20-lap race part of his gear changer fell of making it extremely difficult for him to change gear but he nursed his bike round to complete the race finishing in 22.

Hedger said: "It was another up and down weekend for me and the PR Racing Lloyd and Jones Bowker BMW team, but we managed to pull a good Sunday out the bag.

"Race one was brill I’m so please for me and the team they worked so hard to help me feel more comfortable on the bike.

"Not competing in race two was a little disappointing, but I have got to BSB races under my belt and I am proud of what me and the team have achieved.

"I would like to thank the team for giving me this chance and a massive thank you goes to my loyal sponsors Mist Safety UK,Connect Racing Parts, JC Cook Cycle,Dave Siney, HJC,and Daytona Boots"

Luke’s next round is at Thruxton on August 3-5.
