Division Two

Oldlands 350-0

Chipping Sodbury 97 ao

Oldlands win by 253 runs

RECORDS were sent flying as Kieran Price and Brad Thomas shared a magnificent unbroken opening partnership of 350 in 45 overs for Oldlands in a Division Two Greene King IPA Gloucestershire County League game, writes Steve Hill.

Their side lost the toss at home to Chipping Sodbury but proceeded to take control of the match in style, Kieran leading the way with 193 off 131 balls (19 fours, 11 sixes) while Brad contributed 112 off 140 (16 fours).

Kieran’s knock was the highest in Oldland’s history, beating Brad Stanfield’s 158 not out which was set last year, coincidentally also against Sodbury.

The likes of Doug Walton, Nick Grove, Dave Brookes, Jason Savage, Bobby Woolams, Dave Walton, Steve Pennington, Stuart Reeves and Riley Waite were all left waiting and watching as Price and Thomas put on a masterclass at the crease.

Their stand was the highest for any wicket ever at the club who then bowled Sodbury out for 97 to complete a 253-run victory - Steve Pennington claiming 3-16 and Stuart Reeves 3-28.

Brooks and Walton also took a wicket each and gave up very few runs in their respective overs.

Kieran, incidentally, reached 50 in 61 minutes off 52 balls, proceeded to his 100 off 97 and reached 150 off 119.

Brad was more circumspect, reaching his 50 off 96 deliveries and his century from 132.

The result, incidentally, moved Oldlands off the foot of the table and up to seventh as they bid to pull clear of the drop zone with five rounds of games remaining.

Chipping Sodbury remain at the foot of the table with 121 points. They have now suffered nine defeats in 13 games.

Oldlands next face Gloucester A.I.W. Sports on Saturday, August 4 at The Crypt School, while the reserves lock horns with Haresfield Gladiators at the Oldlands Cricket Ground.
