YATE’s Luke Hedger is on the look-out for more financial backing after losing his biggest sponsor this year.

Now a Superbike rider, Hedger is in the biggest class in the United Kingdom and will go up against the best riders around the world.

He said: “On the stock bike I was scoring consistently in the top-10 and had a couple of top-five finishes which I was quite happy with as it’s only my second year on a 1000 and first year on the BMW.

“I have now been moved up to the Superbike class which is the biggest in the UK with the best riders from all over the world.”

Hedger is suffering from a lack of funding, however, and recently said on social media: “That might be it for my racing if I don’t find any more help for the season.”

He’s currently sponsored by JC Cook Cycles who cover his training equipment and Swindon Karting who are a personal sponsor.

Hedger had has RTR2 sponsoring his leathers, CRP sponsoring his gloves, HJC sponsoring his helmet and Datona sponsoring his boots, but he revealed: “At the moment, I don’t have any sponsors that pay.”

“With sponsorship, I can have the companies on my racing website and travel with the team to any round they like. I could show them around when they are there too.”

Luke has endured mixed fortunes this season, suffering from adverse weather conditions and mechanical faults, but he remains optimistic ahead of the next challenge.

He most recently made his Superbike debut at Brands Hatch and is looking ahead to the next round in Thruxton.

Hedger has consistently reached out to potential sponsors to back his adventure to allow him to continue competing at a high level.

His career has continued to ascend despite suffering minor setbacks on the way, so the future could yet be bright for Hedger.
