CHIPPING Sodbury enjoyed a 27-run home win over Lydney in Division One of the County League, writes Steve Hill.
Craig Scully struck a masterful 86 off 117 balls (15 fours) while Tom Febry added valuable support with a fine 54 as Sodbury rallied from a shaky 32-4 to 165-5.
Tailenders Nick Wake (20) and Ben Waldron (11) put on an unbroken 36 to lift Sodbury to a competitive total of 221-9.
The bowlers then did their bit to nail down the win - Jamie Rendell capturing 3-41 and a three-wicket haul for the in-form Ben Waldron with Josh Morris (1-20) and Mason Poole (1-38) playing their part.
u SODBURY thirds went down by seven wickets to Bristol Sri Lankans in Division Seven of the Bristol & District League.
Jake Kirkham batted with great maturity for his side’s top score of 46, with Neil Barrett (23) digging in for a challenge of 129.
u IT WAS a better day for the fourths as Jamie Pearson compiled his maiden century in a 113-run home victory against Carsons Mangotsfield 3rds in Division 15.
Pearson was dismissed for 101 in a total of 263-6, Sam Makepeace adding 82.
Rosie Tregear (2-23) and Emily Wilson (2-22) made inroads for Sodbury. There were two wickets for Oli Willcox too as the visitors came up short.
