Joseph Mills is looking forward to making his home debut at the New Lawn against his former club Oldham Athletic on Saturday.

The full back spent two years at Boundary Park prior to his move to Australia and reflected positively at his time with Oldham.

Forest Green will be looking to build on their win against Grimsby. While Mills is wary of Oldham's threat, he's and Mills is hoping Rovers can gain some early season momentum.

"I had some good times at Oldham but there's been a big turnaround there," he said. "They'll be looking to bounce back after losing at the weekend.

"They've got threats, they've just come down from League One and have some talent but we need to focus on ourselves and the good style we have, if we can do that we can give any team in this league a go.

"Confidence is a big factor but once you get on a roll its hard to stop so we want to do that and hit the ground running."

Mills impressed at Blundell Park at the weekend and enjoyed the freedom in his role and felt Rovers thoroughly deserved the win.

He said: "When I signed the manager said he likes full backs to get forward and get assists and that's what i want to do. It suits my game and it suits Liam Shephard's game as well.

"Great result, it was a long journey but the lads did well. We were unfortunate to go behind but we kept going, found our team spirit and we deserved it."

"We sped the game up and slowed it down when we needed to. We managed the game well, we got in behind but it's only a start and we won't get carried away."
