THE CONTRIBUTION of Thornbury Rugby Club’s Dave Parry-Jones to local rugby was recognised at the GRFU AGM where he received a top award.

Parry-Jones received The Gloucestershire Award, a rarely presented but well-deserved accolade for his efforts both at Thornbury and Gloucestershire over many years.

Dave has brought in many sponsors to the club which has helped develop its community feel, building up strong relationships with the locality and raising valuable funds to put back into the infrastructure of the club.

In addition, he has refereed at a junior level for many years and has used his vast experience after many seasons as a top referee in Wales to mentor and develop burgeoning referees at Thornbury.

He has also served the Gloucestershire RFU as part of their disciplinary sector for several years.

Dave received his award from Jerry Green of GRFU sponsors Wadworths and GRFU President Keith Gee, who himself played for Thornbury in the mid 1970s.
