Cromhall Sprint

SUE Peachey, Garry Strickland and Leigh Allen were in action at Cromhall on Wednesday, August 8 for one of the summer series mid-week sprint triathlons.

It was a dry and overcast evening with good conditions for triathlon racing, with more bearable temperatures than we have seen recently.

Sue and Leigh both found this one to be a surprisingly hard race despite the short distances, 550m swim, 18km bike and 4km run.

It was reported to be a nice friendly event with lots of good support from fellow competitors.

Garry Strickland 1:09:14 4th Male +50; Leigh Allen 1:24:42 4th Female +40; Sue Peachey 1:25:28 5th Female +40

Portishead Sprint

ANNETTE Haylings successfully completed the Portishead Sprint Triathlon on Saturday, August 11.

The event includes a 400m swim in the fantastic open air Lido, a short run to transition on the famous Battery Point, then a 2 lap, 25km bike course which is far from flat with three significant climbs befitting the coastal location.

Finishing with a 15km run course along the coastal path before looping back on itself back to the finish at Battery Point.

Annette described it as a fab setting for a well organised event with friendly marshals.

The swim was tough in 33.3m lido - took forever to do a length.

Annette was 3rd SuperVet 60 in 2:04:19.

Gower Triathlon – Port Eynon Beach

The Bike was hilly, windy and wet but made up 56 places showing that the hill training challenges help massively. The Run was multi terrain - enjoyable, never going to break any records but steady and finished strong.
