Glos County Cricket League

Division One

Cam 0-0

Westbury-on-Severn 194-9

Match abandoned

CAM saw Saturday’s meeting with Westbury-on-Severn abandoned due to adverse weather conditions.

The visitors had raced to a total of 194-9 at Everlands but never had the chance to bowl due to persistent rain which started at the tea interval.

The umpire had no choice but the call the game off and give each side six game points and four bowling points, for a total of 10.

It’s a big blow for Cam, as they will have fancied their chances against fellow strugglers Westbury, especially after the poor start the visitors had to their innings.

Westbury number one Alex Wyman (5) didn’t last long at the crease, and Ellis Waugh’s (12) departure left the away side at 40-2, but Francis Stirrup’s 41 runs helped turn things around.

Charlie Viney and Ryan Western each took three wickets for Cam conceded just 21 runs and 37 respectively.

For Westbury, the likes of Will Hargreaves (29) and Dan Jarvis (51) both made telling contributions, but it was all in vain due to the abandonment that ensued.

Cam didn’t get a chance at the crease and will hope their next game against Corse & Staunton on Saturday, August 18 won’t be affected by rain.

Cam currently sit second from bottom in Division One of the Gloucestershire County Cricket League with 108 points.

Westbury are one place and five points worse off in the table.
