ALUN Rossiter says the stage is set for the Swindon Robins to tackle Belle Vue Aces at the Abbey Stadium tonight.

After persistent troubles with the track over recent weeks, the Robins returned home and to winning ways last time out with a victory over Leicester Lions.

That saw them return to the top of the SGB Premiership table as they prepare for Mark Lemon’s Aces.

Swindon have the most meetings under their belts with the majority on 16 meetings, while the new league leaders, Poole Pirates, are one behind the Robins on 18.

With points in the bag, Rossiter says his side are in a good position for the end-of-season play-offs and says recent track problems should now be a thing of the past at the Abbey.

“It’s always good to have the points in the bag because you never know what can happen, you could have injuries or anything,” he said.

“As Nick (Morris, skipper) said, we have had a bit of a dip. We have been in this position before so hopefully we will be coming out the other side a bit better.

“We had a lot of issues with the shale, we've got some more coming.

“We are desperate to try and get it right. It’s a big meeting against Belle Vue and we are desperate to win.

“They are going to throw everything at us so we need to make sure that the track is right because then we will have no excuses.

“Then it’s down to the riders and they can’t complain about the track and in fairness, it hasn’t been brilliant, but we are working hard.

“Generally, some tracks have been rubbish day in day out, but its only the last few weeks where we have had some issues.”

Belle Vue are one of several teams chasing a play-off berth and because of that, Rossiter says his side are expecting a tough night.

British ace Craig Cook will not feature for the visitors as he is riding with Glasgow, with Brady Kurtz replacing him for the clash.

The Aces have also made recent changes in a bid to improve their away form, with Mark Riss and Dimitri Berge joining the club in place of Jye Etheridge and Damian Drozdz.

“Whoever they bring is going to be good so we need to make sure we are on the top of our game,” he added.

“Max Fricke is a classy rider, Rohan (Tungate) can pop out the start and do some damage so we just have to make sure we are ready.

“I’m confident now we will be alright on our home circuit.”
