Redmarley win by six wickets

CHIPPING Sodbury’s promotion hopes suffered a blow with a six-wicket reverse away to Redmarley in Division One of the Greene King IPA Gloucestershire County League, writes Steve Hill.

Sodbury, bidding for a top three place which might be good enough to secure a prized place in WEPL, were bowled out for 173 - opener Jake Reed (33) and skipper Jamie Rendell (28) top scoring.

Redmarley then completed a comfortable victory with plenty of overs to spare as Sodbury lost ground on the top three sides.

Sodbury win by eight wickets

IT WAS a better day for Sodbury 2nds who boosted their hopes of avoiding the drop from Division Two with an eight-wicket thumping of Cranham.

Reece Packer was the star with a return of 5-33 from nine as the visitors were rushed out for only 48 - Dan Brown (2-2) and skipper Jay Penfold (2-1) keeping the heat on.

Lee Walters (28*) then led the charge as Sodbury moved off the foot of the table, swapping places with Cranham and keeping alive hopes of staying up with two rounds of games to go.

Hanham win by 136 runs

SODBURY 3RDS, meanwhile, suffered a 136-run defeat away to Hanham 2nds in Division Seven of the Bristol & District League.

There were two wickets each for Dan Whittaker and Jacob Havard as Hanham reached 276-7 before Sodbury came up short despite the efforts of Havard (35).

Sodbury have lost 10 game points in Division 15A of the Bristol Cricket League, while Bradley Stoke lost 29 penalty points.
