Forest Green Rovers manager Mark Cooper has said his side are 'feeling confident' ahead of this weekends match at Notts County.

Rovers are still unbeaten in the league this season, with their only defeat coming against League One Wycombe on penalties in the Carabao Cup.

They go in to Saturday's game against County, just days after their manager Kevin Nolan was sacked with Harry Kewell replacing him as manager.

Cooper admitted, before the game, that he is relieved the former Liverpool and Leeds star was coming in as a manager and not a player.

"I'm just glad he isn't playing, if he was playing I'd be concerned because he was a really good player," he said.

"They will now be on the bounce, the pressure is taken off them. The crowd will be up for it but we think we can go there and compete.

"We are confident with the way we are, with our play and each other. We feel as though wherever we have a right to go there and if we play the way we have been then we can get a result."

On how the season has gone, the 49-year-old admitted that he is pleased with the progress his side have made.

"There are plenty of positives to take from this season so far," Cooper continued.

"Yes, there is a little hint of frustration in the team at the moment but I think that is a good thing.

"We think that our performances have been really good so far this season and they have warranted more points than we currently have.

"But we know if we keep performing to a certain level then results will come. We just need to be a bit more clinical."

The game on Saturday also marks Cooper's return to one of his old teams, but the former Swindon and County manager revealed it is one that he intends to enjoy.

"We look a threat, I have been looking forward to the game at County this weekend. We are all looking forward to going there, it is one of those stadiums that the atmosphere is good." He said

"We are ready for it, we have prepared really well."
