ERUDITE Mark Cooper championed his “outstanding” Forest Green side after their unbeaten start to the League Two season remained intact.

Rovers battled to a draw at Paul Tisdale’s MK Dons, who also kept their undefeated run going.

Reuben Reid’s penalty 10 minutes from time handed Rovers a point, their sixth draw in eight games after substitute George Williams was tripped in the box. Earlier, a dropped catch by Robert Sanchez allowed Chuks Aneke the opportunity to hand the Dons the lead on the half-hour.

“Everyone who has seen that performance will know what we are all about. I thought we were outstanding,” said a confident Cooper, who lauded the impact of his substitutes.

“Our substitutes are as important as anyone in the side. They have to come on and either create or score or save a goal and today they gave us more drive.”

Cooper felt his burgeoning side deserved more from the game, but bemoaned self-inflicted errors.

“We deserved more than we got, but you don’t get three points for playing lovely football. You have to make sure you don’t make silly mistakes.”

Meanwhile ,Tisdale was full of admiration for Rovers, he told the MK Citizen: " Forest Green played extremely well and we didn't have a great day.

“They played superbly well. But it's a point. It feels disappointing having led, but sometimes things don't feel right as a manager or player, and that one didn't feel right.

"We have to look at how Forest Green played first and work back from there.

"As much as they dominated the first-half, they created one really good chance after we scored, but we defended the box really well.”

Rovers welcome Crawley Town to the New Lawn on Saturday, 3pm.
