Gloucestershire division 1st XI; Stone (235-4) beat Kingsholm (234-6) by six wickets
AN UNBEATEN fifth wicket partnership of 95 between Pete Lavis and Dave Jones led Stone to victory and clear of the drop zone on Saturday.
Jones was one of three half-centurions as the home side won with over four overs to spare.
Skipper Lavis decided to bowl first after winning the toss, but the Gloucester side made a good start.
The opening pair put on 63 before Charlie Varney removed Robert Trueman. Three quick wickets reduced Kingsholm to 139-4 before James Markey lifted them with 42.
Stone were 2-1 when Phil Ponting was run out but Darren Turl (56) and Ian Hall (61) put Stone back in control.
When those two were dismissed and Trevor Burley followed soon after, it was left up to Lavis (41*) and Jones (52*) to see the hosts home.
Stone travel to Woodmancote in the league on Saturday.
