DURSLEY Ladies RFC remain top of the league after a comprehensive victory at Witney Angels.

Julianne Thomson scored five tries for the visitors in a 67-7 win, whilst there was a hat-trick for Sarah Hewson, two for Leah Parry and one for Vicky Mansell, who added six conversions from the tee.

The win was the third win from three games for Dursley Ladies to begin the 2023/24 campaign, although it came at a cost as there were a number of serious injuries during the game, including two broken ankles that twice required the game to be moved to other pitches.

But the result keeps Dursley top of the Women's NC 2 South West (North) table, nine points clear of their nearest rivals.

In other news, they have only recently returned from a European rugby festival in Barcelona.

Dursley competed in an open women's 10s tournament and fourteen players travelled to Spain for the three-day event featuring men's and women's teams from across Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Ukraine.

After competing well in the group stages and losing to Durham City, Dursley sustained a number of injuries and joined forces with a team from Cranbrook, Kent to win the women's final.
