IT was a case of too little, too late for Thornbury at the weekend as they slipped to a third successive away defeat on Saturday.

Late tries from Mike Priday and Chris Perrett brought Thorns back into the game and although they finished on top, they ran out of time and were left to settle for a losing bonus-point.

Chosen Hill had dominated the early stages and scored their first try in the 17th minute when flanker Leigh Dangerfield strolled over after a couple of missed tackles.

Prop Mike Darby scored off the back of a driving maul close to the Thornbury line to extend that lead and a further converted try from Steve Merrick and a penalty made it 22-3 at the break, with Jake Wood's three-pointer all that Thornbury could manage.

It was a different story in the second-half and Thornbury were able to get the upper hand, but it took until the 60th minute of the game for them to turn that pressure into points.

They had already crossed the line a couple of times, only for the referee to disallow the scores for various infringements, before Priday peeled off the back of a driving maul and scored in the corner.

Perrett skipped out of a tackle to add a second try late in the day but in the end, it was not enough and Thornbury ran out of time.
