DURSLEY’S reigning MSA historic champion David Stokes heads to Belgium this weekend for the Tour of Flanders.

It is the penultimate round of the Dunlop/Gambia Historic series, the two-day event consisting of 125 miles of slippery Belgian roads.

Stokes and codriver Guy Weaver are looking to continue their recent good run in the Draycott Bakerys Escort RS1600.

"Flanders is a long tough event," said Stokes. "If it rains out their the stages are like driving on ice, and we have a loop of stages in darkness on day one, and that's difficult, but we will be giving it 100%."

On September 20, Castle Combe is holding its’ Rally Day.

The event, which began in 2001,regularly attracts 10,000 spectators, and amongst those in attendance will Ford works driver Mikko Hirvonen in the 07 Focus WRC, and current BRC champion Guy Wilks, who will be driving a Lancer WRC as well as the works group N car.

Others present will be Phillip Mills, Nicky Grist, Tony Mason, and former British champions Russell Brookes and David Llewellyn, who will be re-united with the cars of their era.

The 500 bhp Rallycross supercars will also have a purpose built track, while Rally Raiders will also be present, as well as car clubs, trade stands, and a feature stage where spectators will be able to watch 50 drivers putting their cars through their paces.
