KAUTO Star got his revenge on Denman as Paul Nicholls enjoyed more Gold Cup glory at the Cheltenham Festival today.
The Olveston-born trainer wasn’t able to repeat last year’s remarkable effort of having the top three horses, but he did have four of the top five.
A fantastic run by Kauto Star saw him comfortably beat last year’s champion Denman to reclaim the trophy he won in 2007, Neptune Collonges followed last year’s third place by finishing fourth and rank outsider My Will finished fifth.
There was no joy for Dursley racehorse owner Terry Warner as Penn Da Benn and Pasco finished down the field in the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle and Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Handicap Chase respectively.
