FOREST Green’s leading goalscorer Andy Mangan was shown a red card as Forest Green’s unbeaten nine-game run came to a shuddering halt.
Mansfield went in front after ten minutes when Mark Stallard headed in from Ryan Williams’ cross.
Mangan was dismissed in first half stoppage time for foul and abusive language as he protested for a penalty after Adie Moses’ challenge in the box.
The hosts were awarded a penalty eight minutes into the second half as Alex Lawless shoved Scott Garner and Rob Duffy scored from the spot.
Mansfield were reduced to ten men as well after 75 minutes when Matt Somner saw red for a kick out at Adriano Rigoglioso. Garner added the third ten minutes from time as he headed in Curtis Woodhouse’s free kick.
The result leaves Forest Green one place and one point above the relegation zone.
