FORMER Yate Town boss Richard Thompson is looking for a quick return to football management.

Thompson led the Bluebells from the Hellenic League to the Southern League Premier and won two GFA Cups and a League Cup in nine years at the helm but he was sacked in February with Yate in the relegation zone and current boss Dave Mogg couldn’t save them from the drop.

The popular Thompson lives in Yate and was a regular spectator at Lodge Road following his dismissal last season, but is looking to get back in the dugout soon.

He said: "I believe my CV is as good as anyone's in the Southern League and I feel I have a lot to offer. I want to get back into the game and the sooner the better."

Meanwhile, Yate have added Welton Rovers to their list of pre-season fixtures.

They will travel to the Toolstation Western Premier League Club on Saturday, July 18 to start their pre-season schedule.

Yate are also due to play away fixtures against Brislington (July 21), Hengrove Athletic (July 25) and Shortwood United (July 28).

Their only home friendly and most prestigious game is against Mogg’s former club Bath City on Monday, August 3. No more friendlies are likely to be arranged.

Yate begin their pre-season training on Thursday, July 2.
