YATE TOWN’S pre-season friendly away to Brislington, due to be played tonight, has been called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
A much-changed Yate side gave an encouraging performance in their first friendly match at Toolstation Western League side Welton Rovers on Saturday.
With only three players from last season in the starting line-up, Yate built up a two goal lead thanks to new signings Mark Reynolds, with a stunning strike from 25 yards, and Dave Pearse.
Manager Dave Mogg made several changes in the second half with several trialists getting a run-out and Chris Lewis pulled a goal back from the penalty spot for Welton.
A crisp shot on the turn from Ollie Edwards on the edge of the area took a deflection and flew in to give Welton their equaliser.
Yate’s next friendly is away to Hengrove Athletic on Saturday, followed by a trip to Shortwood United next Tuesday night.
