Almondsbury Town boss Paul Weeks and Hallen manager Gary Damone look forward to FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round

ALMONDSBURY TOWN manager Paul Weeks believes his side have a good chance of going on an FA Cup run this season.

The draw has given his side three potential home games, starting in the Extra Preliminary Round against Toolstation Western Premier League side Longwell Green on Saturday, with the winners due to host Cinderford.

Yate Town would be the most likely opponents in the First Qualifying Round and Weeks believes his side are capable of winning all of them.

He said: “We’ve got to get past Longwell Green first. We’ve got to go out and compete with them, meet their spirit and then our quality should come through but it’s a one-off game.”

Almondsbury came from behind twice to start their Hellenic Premier Division campaign with a 2-2 draw at Wantage on Tuesday, with goals from Steve Peters and Kane Ingram.

Weeks said: “Our performance in the second half was unbelievable. We were all over them, we hit the bar and the post but it’s a results based business. We conceded two sloppy goals but created several chances.”

Hallen manager Gary Damone is also hoping for a money-spinning run in the FA Cup this year.

They travel to Hellenic Premier Division Club Marlow United on Saturday in the Extra Preliminary Round and Damone is expecting a physical match.

He said: “With the money implicated in it, everyone wants to do well. We would like a good run.

“We will have to match them physically first, that’s the first thing to do, and then hopefully score the goals to win the game.”

Hallen started their Toolstation Premier Division campaign with a victory over Corsham Town on Saturday but were beaten 1-0 by a last-minute wonder strike from the edge of the box at Longwell Green on Tuesday night.

That was just ten minutes after former Yate winger Dave Anyinsah had a shot which came back off both posts.

Damone said: “I didn’t think we deserved to lose.”
