Blue Square Premier: Forest Green Rovers 0 Hayes & Yeading 0

FOREST GREEN caretaker manager David Brown felt his side missed an opportunity to gain their first win of the season against Hayes & Yeading on Tuesday night.

Coming on the back of the disastrous 7-0 defeat at Cambridge United, a clean sheet was a big bonus for Forest Green but Brown was frustrated that his side could not capitalise on their chances against a side who played over 30 minutes with ten men.

“It’s two points lost rather than one point gained,” he said.

“I’m happy with the clean sheet but their keeper has made three or four good saves and we’ve missed a couple of chances.

“We’ve not been far off in every game, even at Cambridge where I thought we were the better team in the first half.

“We need a a bit of luck, maybe a flukey goal. When things go against you there is a lack of confidence. We’ll move on and see what we can do on Saturday.”

Paul Lloyd and Jonathan Smith forced saves from Hayes goalkeeper Simon Oldland in the first half.

Danny Allen-Page was given his marching orders on 57 minutes after picking up two yellow cards in as many minutes.

Former Katharine Lady Berkeley’s School pupil Sean Rigg had a chance to win the game for Forest Green late on but missed the target from 12 yards.
