FA Vase Second Qualifying Round: Cowes Sports 2 Almondsbury Town 3

ALMONDSBURY TOWN continued their love affair with cup football this season but left it late once again as they progressed through to the next round of the FA Vase.

Four days after they came from behind to knock Yate out of the FA Cup with two goals in the last ten minutes, Almondsbury repeated the trick, this time with two goals in stoppage time to ensure they their long trip to the Isle of Wight was well worth it.

Kane Ingram’s 51st minute opener was cancelled out two minutes later and Cowes Sports went ahead on 70 minutes.

Ingram equalised from the penalty spot after Marcus Mapstone was tripped in the box and after netting the crucial equaliser at Yate, Lee Bridson was the hero once again with the winner on 95 minutes.

Chairman Bob Jenkins said: “With John Lock out injured, Lee Bridson has come in at centre back along with Marcus Mapstone and done really well.

“We were a bit lethargic in the first half but it was a long day for the players after leaving at half past seven.”
