SACKED Forest Green manager Jim Harvey has been handed the Chester City manager's job until the end of the season.

Harvey, who was sacked by Rovers in July for a breach of contract, takes over from Mick Wadsworth, who was sacked last week after their 2-1 home defeat to Forest Green.

City are at the bottom of the table following a 25-point deduction for financial mismanagement.

Harvey said: "Obviously, it will be a difficult job with the points deduction. "We're going to have to put in some tremendous performances and get some excellent results to avoid relegation.

"But that's the job and I'm going to get on with it."

Harvey has a reputation as a Conference specialist having managed Morecambe and Forest Green.

The former Northern Ireland assistant manager took charge at the New Lawn in September 2006.

He oversaw an escape from relegation in his first season before achieving Rovers' highest ever league finish of eighth in 2007/08.

His shock departure in the summer has led to a bitter legal battle, with the Nailsworth outfit claiming he breached a three-year contract he signed in July 2007 by applying for the job at Cambridge United.

They have also accused him of not 'properly attending to his duties' at a match so he could make himself available for an interview.

Harvey has denied the claims and asked his solicitors to bring employment tribunal and High Court actions against the club.
