Preview to Forest Green's Blue Square Premier matches against Oxford United and Stevenage Borough

FOREST GREEN face two huge home Blue Square Premier tests against title-chasing Stevenage Borough at the New Lawn on Saturday (3pm) and league leaders Oxford United on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Rovers will say farewell to on-loan Bristol Rovers striker Rigg, who will play his final game of his loan period on Saturday.

The Wotton-based youngster will hope to leave the New Lawn in style and add to his tally of seven goals in 18 appearances against Graham Westley’s side.

However, Rigg could return to the New Lawn when the window re-opens in January.

He said: “I would be happy to come back if it doesn’t go as well as I want it to when I go back to Bristol Rovers.”

Forest Green defender Oli Thorne (ankle) is close to a return but Lee Ayres and Mike Fowler are out.

Rovers will certainly need to be on the money after Stevenage cut the gap at the top of the Blue Square Premier to five points with a 5-3 win at Gateshead last Saturday.

Former Forest Green striker Charlie Griffin stole the show with his second hat-trick of the season.

Meanwhile, leaders Oxford suffered a surprise 3-1 defeat at Kidderminster Harriers. Oxford will include former Forest Green midfielder Simon Clist and goalkeeper Ryan Clarke.
