KINGSWOOD scored three second half goals to gain a 4-1 victory over local rivals Berkeley Town. Berkeley shocked the home side when Richard Langford gave them the lead on 30 minutes, but the home side levelled on 40 minutes with a Ryan Mudd strike. Ten minutes into the second half, the home side took the lead through Gavin Dibden and then disaster struck for Berkeley as Gary Gaynor drove the ball into his own net to put Kingswood 3-1 up. Kingswood rounded the scoring off in the 88th minute when substitute Scott Wooder netted a superb goal.
Stroud League Division Two Horsley United 0 Kingswood Reserves 1
Kingswood Reserves dominated the first half whilst playing down the considerable slope and restricted the home side to the odd half chance.
But it was Horsley who enjoyed the lions share of possession in the second half and Kingswood had to really compete to stay with a very good all round outfit.
Ben Miles and Kelvin Mann had big games in the centre of midfield and Rodman, Harvey and Vale protected Chris Shaw between the sticks.
It was the Kingswood substitutes though who really changed the game in their favour with Frank Hitchings adding more steel in midfield.
The only goal of the game came on 70 minutes with Scott Harvey putting in Tony Berry to score at the near post.
Horsley created chances, but a combination of good defending and poor finishing thwarted their efforts.
Kingswood looked home and dry until a deflected shot hit the arm of a defender in the penalty area on 95 minutes and it looked like all of their efforts would go unrewarded.
However, Chris Shaw got his finger tips to the resultant kick which hit the inside of the post.
