TEN-MAN Almondsbury Town closed the gap on league leaders Reading Town with a win at Oxford City Nomads.
The game came to life in the 24th minute when Nick Dunn picked up the ball in the middle of the park and fed Ross Stearn, whose first time cross was met by Aaron Blakemore to make it 1-0.
The lead did not last long as Oxford keeper Milan Barisic thumped the ball well into the Almonds half and it was neatly collected by striker Ben Moses, who sped towards goal and calmly slotted past Stuart Jones for the equaliser.
Almondsbury responded though as Stearn floated a corner towards goal and Dale Peckham created space for a free header to score.
Just as half-time was approaching, Jones came racing out of his area and instinctively his arm went up to stop an attempted lob and the goalkeeper was sent off for denying a goalscoring opportunity.
The Almonds held on in the second half and with Reading suffering a rare defeat, they moved to within seven points of the top of the table with three games in hand.
