MARK REYNOLDS struck in the 89th minute to give Yate victory over an in-form Taunton side at Lodge Road.
The late winner ended a sequence of four straight defeats for Dave Mogg’s side and punctured relegation-threatened Taunton’s resurgence after their seven-game unbeaten run.
Yate handed a debut to Matt Groves, who signed in time for the game after being released by Weymouth.
It took the home side just four minutes to take the lead when Sam Duggan lobbed the ball over goalkeeper Grant Fisher.
Reynolds came close soon after but his effort came back off the bar.
Taunton came back in the second half and equalised in the 83rd minute when Alexis Piper crossed for James Clough to score.
However, Yate snatched the three points when Russ Church helped on Matt Hale’s free kick and Reynolds smashed the ball into the net.
Star man: Matt Hale.
Yate visit promotion-chasing Gosport Borough tomorrow night before their trip to Paul Weeks’ Cinderford Town on Saturday.
