STEVE DAVIES has signed a new contract at Forest Green.

Manager David Hockaday tied up the 21-year-old former Cirencester man, who can play on the wing or up front, ahead of the playing squad reporting back for training today.

Davies, who scored his first senior goal for the club on the opening day of last season against Kettering Town, was hampered later by hernia problems, but following an operation he is now back to full fitness.

Meanwhile, sports therapist Ian Rodgerson has left his backroom staff position by mutual consent.

Rovers have named 26-year-old Tim Grigg as his replacement for the new season and he already knows the management team well.

Grigg worked for the club during last season supporting Rodgerson and he also knows the set up at Hartpury College having studied there.

Coaches Mick Byrne and Kevin Phillips will continue to work under Hockaday and Ian Wrixon has taken over as the sole kit manager for the new season with Dursley-based youngster Laurie Merchant taking up refereeing.

The club also announced that Colin Peake will assume a new role of operations director on a full-time basis, taking on management of the stadium, together with administration and commercial aspects of the football side of the Ltd Company.

Ahead of the new season he would like to hear from anyone who would like to offer their services to the club on matchdays and in the first instance they are asked to contact him via the Club Admin Office on 01453 834860 to discuss their personal expertise and experience.

Forest Green will again operate a reserve team in the Totesport.com Football Combination in the Western Division.

Rovers will be handing over more of the administration to Hartpury College with matches scheduled still to be at the New Lawn on Monday evenings with a 7pm kick off.
