THORNBURY remain in the second promotion spot after beating Ashcott and Shapwick on Saturday.
The home side recovered from a poor start after being put into bat and losing Nick Stovold (10) and Karl Hurkett (3) with the score on 16-2.
Captain Richard Trotman blasted 46 off 34 balls, including five fours and three sixes, as he shared 74 for the third wicket with Hamish Reeves, who top scored with 47.
Greg Stephens also hit 41, while contributions from Curtis Blakemore (29) and Jonathan Oakey (21) lifted Thornbury’s total.
Juvaunie Gayle (3-33) and Trotman (2-27) then ripped through Ashcott’s top and middle order to leave their innings in tatters on 38-5.
Although the visitors recovered, their lower order were left with too much to do as Harry Blackwell (2-26) and Andrew White (3-39) eventually cleaned them up.
On Saturday, Thornbury face a crucial clash away to third-placed Westbury and District, who are just one point behind them in a congested Premier Two table.
