Tytherington Rocks came back in this dramatic game to keep their unbeaten run going.

Their hero was Tom Blyth, whose impressive screamer on his home debut salvaged a priceless point just before the finale whistle.

Trailing 2-0 at half-time Rocks’ manager, Barry Granger, changed his side’s formation and then the home team got back into the game.

In the end the draw was more important to the Rocks’ fans and this point was born out of a performance full of character and commitment.

Saracens came out of the traps and Jamie Holland hit the upright after 16 minutes and then Rocks goalkeeper Tom Sheppard saved at the foot of a post from Andy Crosskey’s shot.

But, a minute later, Carl Griffiths nodded a Holland centre across the Tytherington goalmouth to score with an opportunistic effort.

Nine minutes before the interval Saracens scored again as Holland eased an astute pass before Crosskeys and the striker hit a 20-yard drive into the corner.

On 71 minutes the busy Mark Totterdell hit a wonderful 25-yard drive which Cheltenham goalkeeper Ryan Betteridge spilt and Justin Bishop scored from the rebound.

Danny Thorpe, Adam Keslake and Rob Cave were united at the back and in midfield, Marc Hughes , Nathan Irwin , Totterdell and fulcrum Mark Viner took over as somehow Cheltenham lost their heads.

With four minutes left the home team got the equaliser when Blyth picked up the ball out ide the box and his marvellous wind-assisted drive swirled over the despairing Betteridge.

“We could have won”, admitted Granger, “and if we had more time, I am sure we would have.”
