AFTER the hard-earned point away to Cambridge United it was back to the training ground to prepare for our next game - away to fellow-strugglers Histon.

Reece Styche was unable to train until Thursday. Scott Bartlett suffered a serious knee injury in training on his way back to fitness. He has had rotten luck this season and we all wish him well on his road to full recovery. Jeffrey Imudia wasn't quite able to make the squad although his target is next week when Danny Hall's loan comes to an end. Jared Hodgkiss is getting nearer to fitness. Yan Klukowski was improving and we are getting better at managing his injury which will need surgery at the end of the season.

Despite all these issues we looked in good spirit and travelled to Histon on Saturday morning determined to claim a vital three points. We arrived to a bone hard pitch as they were unable to get any water on it. The same surface for both teams...accept it and deal with it.

The game went according to plan without us having to scale any heights. We dominated territory in the opening half hour and deservedly took the lead when a James Bittner kick saw Steve Guinan go through on goal and volley smartly into the corner of the net. We then took our foot off the pedal and Histon came more into the game without really threatening our goal.

It was obvious at half-time that fresh legs would be needed at some stage.

We started the second half as we had finished the first, looking slightly off the pace. We then injected some more energy and "legs" by introducing first Bradley Gray and then Reece Styche. The effect was immediate with Dyer and Styche combining well up front and Gray causing problems out wide with his pace. Styche went through and his lob onto the bar was headed home by Dyer. Within minutes Styche forced his way through again to calmly volley home. Game over.

A great and much needed three points. Four points on our travels to Cambridgeshire in a week....a decent haul.

I must make special note of our travelling fans...THEY WERE SUPERB. We were cheered non-stop from start to finish and to share our joy with them at winning the game was a sight for sore eyes. Well done to everyone that made the long journey to Histon. It is massively appreciated by all the staff and players. The challenge now is to get as many people as possible into the New Lawn for next Saturday's game at home to Altrincham.

A good journey home with three points in the bag and we are back in the mix.

Now the importance of not losing games and picking up points along the way really sinks in. We will look to win every game...we will look not to lose any game.. A tough ask. We need everyone's help to try and achieve this goal. We move on.
