THERE was no game for City last weekend due to the International break and it has been a quiet build up to Sunday’s game at the New Den where City take on Millwall in a game to be broadcast live on Sky (1.15pm).

City complete November with a home game against current league leaders Southampton, who have been in imperious form thus far this season having only got promoted from League One last season, and then a Tuesday night visit to Vicarage Road to face Watford in what looks to be a relegation 6-pointer.

Despite being in excellent recent form, Millwall are not far out of reach for City and a win on Sunday would bring us to within two points of the 17th placed Lions.

But the New Den is a tough place to go as demonstrated by Millwall’s home record this season that has seen them lose just once in eight games.

City have not won at Millwall in their last four attempts, the last win coming on October 29 1997 in our promotion season.

That day City won 2-0 thanks to goals from Adam Locke and a former resident of Thornbury - Steve Torpey.

Millwall had been in scintillating form prior to a 1-0 loss at another in-form team - Blackpool - a couple of weeks back.

Preceding that, the Londoners had demolished Coventry 3-0, Ipswich 4-1 and Leicester 3-0.

Striker Darius Henderson was responsible for six of the goals scored in those three games and so clearly he is a man the City defence will have to keep a very close eye on.

But we should pose a threat to the home side on the back of taking seven points from our last three games.

I fully expect us to line up as we did at Barnsley and West Ham with Maynard being the lone striker.

A tricky fixture awaits, but with renewed confidence in the City camp I’m confident of at least a point.
