DAN Snow broke Mike Croft’s 23-year-old North Bristol club record for most points in a game as the club’s second string trounced Kingswood with 18 unanswered tries.

Snow scored three tries and 13 conversions, giving him a total of 41 points as North Bristol score the highest total in their history.

After Snow kicked off, winger Joe Mitchell caught the ball and his pass found Dan Purdy to score a try after about five seconds.

Scorers came at regular intervals with Alex Cue, Mark Smith and Max Sheppard all scoring.

The try of the half came when centre Andy Muldoon raced through and produced a behind the back pass to feed Mitchell, who scored under the posts.

Flanker Steve Bold’s try in the corner, after good work from Jim Hitchman at the start of the second half gave Snow his toughest kick from the touchline and the fly-half could not convert the tenth try but North were 68-0 ahead.

Cue was able to cash in on his forwards good lineout drive to pinch his try and he soon completed his hat-trick, sniping over from close range.

Snow too was able to clinch his hat-trick try and there was time for Muldoon to glide over for his second.

Following a quickly taken lineout second-rower Paul Howell sprinted and crashed through numerous tackles from 40 metres for his try which Snow converted.

As the game entered its final phase Mitchell scooted down the left flank for his second, hard-working Hitchman claimed a deserved try and hooker Tony Booth poached the side’s last try after good work from Cue with Snow adding four more kicks.

Chris Ball and Matt Parcel both played for Kingswood to make sure they had a full 15 players.

North Bristol scorers: Tries - Alex Cue (3), Dan Snow (3), Joe Mitchell (2), Andy Muldoon (2), Dan Purdy (2), Steve Bold, Tony Booth, Jim Hitchman, Paul Howell, Max Sheppard, Mark Smith; Conversions - Dan Snow (13).

Western Counties North Bristol Harlequins 18 North Bristol 49

North Bristol recorded their biggest ever league win over Bristol Harlequins.

A bright start from North yielded an early try when Nigel Smith drove hard at Quins and the outstanding Jack Cotter finished the move. Martin Lambourne slotted the conversion, taking him to 100 points this season.

Quins scored a penalty five minutes later but that was all they had to show during a first half that North Bristol dominated.

Smith scored a try himself after 30 minutes and when Jake Robertson scored too; his tenth of the season, North were cruising.

North’s pack was in rampaging form with Cotter, John Wood and Ross Wilson doing the hard yards.

Prop Alex Vittle also showed up well here, regularly driving hard at the heart of Quins defence.

Another powerful Smith surge set up wing Martin Harrex to score a try, his 50th for the club, and Smith was at it again soon afterwards as he set up Antony Jelf for North’s fifth try.

At 27-3 down Quins started to lose their discipline and after a flare-up their two flankers and the unlucky Andre Samura for North Bristol were yellow-carded.

Only five minutes later the Quins had another yellow card and were down to 12 men.

North Bristol pressed home their dominance and Nigel Smith got his second try before Carl Smith scored a super try of his own.

Great work from fullback Josh Davies, spinning out of contact, gave centre Jonny Gait the try and with Harrex claiming a second North Bristol were 49-8 ahead after Quins had scored themselves.

North Bristol relaxed a little and an interception try and another late score from the home side saw them close the gap.

The Oaklands Park outfit face a tough clash on Saturday as they entertain Burnham-on-Sea and head coach Wayne Thompson will want them to continue their good run of form.

North Bristol scorers: Tries - Martin Harrex (2), Nigel Smith (2), Jack Cotter, Jonny Gait, Antony Jelf, Jake Robertson, Carl Smith; Conversions - Martin Lambourne (2).
