YATE’S Rachael Patterson remained upbeat despite being given a harsh introduction to rallying at Wyedean, writes Rob Iles.
She suffered problems early on with her 1400 Peugeot 106 and went round the first two stages on three wheels in icy conditions after the front right strut had come off.
Her team got the car back on the road for the third stage, but it was outside the time for intermediate service meaning Patterson was out of the competition.
However, she was allowed to carry on and completed the event, despite slipping off while pushing too hard on a corner at the final stage.
“I was so pleased that we had got round all the stages and finished,” said Patterson.
“I feel like a lot has been achieved and can’t wait for the next rally at Malcolm Wilson on March 3.
