IT WAS unlucky 13 for Cam as local rivals Wotton Rovers became the first team in four months to score and avoid defeat against them.
Indeed, it needed a late strike by Pete Holder to rescue a point for the league leaders, who had won their previous 12 games without conceding a goal to set a club record.
Wotton also finished the game with nine men, while Cam were reduced to ten after an incident-packed second half.
Following a goalless first half the game came to life after the restart, and within ten minutes George Hemmings was sent off for Wotton following a mis-timed tackle.
However, Ben Jagger’s goal was breached for the first time Cam lost 3-2 at home to Cirencester Town Development in the Senior Amateur Cup on October 22 when his own defender, Brad Price, flicked in Lee Williams’ corner to give Wotton a 60th minute lead.
Alex Lumsden then hit the post for Wotton before they went down to nine men, with Clint Hopkins being given his marching orders for a second yellow card.
Cam then had Adam Philp sent off for dissent on 80 minutes, but they equalised with two minutes left when Holder burst into the box and fired in from 18 yards.
Cam boss Simon Penny was sad to see the record come to an end, but was more disappointed with his side’s performance.
“It had to happen, but after overcoming Cheltenham Civil Service it was a bit of a shame,” he said.
“We were horrendous. Wotton were so much more up for the game and they had a lot of chances.”
Wotton manager Marc Jenkins was pleased to end Cam’s record, but admitted it felt like two points dropped at the end.
He said: “At the start of the day it would’ve been a good point, but at the end I was disappointed because we did enough in the second half to win it and they had one chance which they took.
“Cam are a very good side, who won their last 12 so it was a good point to break their record.”
