CONTINUING to amaze young and old alike, Dursley and District Athletic Club stalwart Kevin Jackson ran his 125th consecutive Gwent Cross Country League race on Saturday.

The 51-year-old veteran was presented with an award by the League organisers in recognition of his commitment over the years, not having missed a single race in a quarter of a century!

The award also reflects Jackson's tried and tested training methods which rarely see him coming down with injury or illness.

Last weekend’s event, held at Blaise Castle, was the last in this year’s league and Jackson finished 11th MV50 on the day and 81st overall in a time of 40min 34sec.

This result moves him up to seventh MV50 overall in the league. He was accompanied, as is so often the case, by Roly Hobbs who came 199th in 50.45.

For anyone interested, members of the club run from Dursley Rugby Club on Tuesday evenings. Meet 6.15 for a 6.30pm start. Two to three groups take part.

Winter runs are on the road with frequent stops for regrouping. Luminous bibs and head torches are recommended.

If you want some company to help you run through the winter nights and get fit for the spring, you are invited along.
