SCOTT THOMAS was sent off in a disastrous five-minute spell that cost Yate dearly in heavy rain at Clevedon on Easter Monday.
With the match evenly poised at 1-1 just after the hour mark Yate conceded three goals in quick time, one from the penalty spot after Thomas was given his marching orders for a professional foul, and although Hector Mackie responded immediately they crashed to their second defeat of the Bank Holiday weekend.
Hemmings hit a hat-trick for the hosts and his first goal on 21 minutes was a delicate chip over goalkeeper Damian Freeman after Jack McKenna put him through on goal.
Tom Knighton directed Mackie’s wayward shot in from six yards to level the scores three minutes before half-time.
Reeko Best put Clevedon ahead in the 61st minute with a good finish after being set up by Hemmings.
One minute later last man Thomas was found guilty of shirt pulling in the box and Hemmings made no mistake from the penalty spot.
Hemmings completed his hat-trick on 66 minutes when he fired the ball into the corner after being found in space by Henry Muggeridge.
The spectators were hardly able to draw breath as Hector Mackie pulled a goal back one minute later with a stunning strike, but Yate could not find a way back into the game.
