WOTTON-UNDER-EDGE based rider Lee Dunham finished 12th overall in the second round of the IMBA European MX1 Championship at Oss in Holland.

In timed practice Dunham was tenth, which gave him a good gate pick for the rest of the day.

The Maxxis Henderson LPE Kawasaki rider started way on the right hand side of the gate on the dryest point in the first moto to try and get good drive going up the start line, only to get shut out on the first corner.

On a charge Dunham picked through the ever-changing leaderboard to claw back up to 12th at the flag and bag good points to kick start the day off.

In the second race, Dunham charged rapidly through the pack to eventually finish 11th. Swapping gate positions for moto three, Dunham produced his best start of the day.

The track was now at its worst due to the heavy rain and after following the sidecars, the field were having to deal with huge deep ruts on every part of the former GP track.

However, riding really well and picking off Dutch and Belgian riders, Dunham ended the day by finishing in tenth position.

Although Dunham dropped one place down to fifth in the standings, the next round is at Nympsfield where he will be hoping to use his home track knowledge and keep himself firmly in the title hunt.

Dunham said: “Today was tough for many reasons, but I’m pleased to come away with some more good points.

“The sidecars today destroyed the lines, and when they ride a corner, they make it so tough for us to race on.

“We look forward to the next round at Nympsfield to hopefully claw us back up in the points.”
