MARVYN ROBERTS hit a hat-trick as Slimbridge came from two goals down to defeat Newbury at Wisloe Road and progress to the next round of the Floodlit Cup.

Kalief Madden opened the scoring on 37 minutes and George Holland struck four minutes later to give the visitors a two goal lead at the break.

Slimbridge scored two goals in as many minutes to level, Stuart Gates netting a penalty on 63 minutes to reduce the deficit before Roberts equalised.

Saul Williams looked to have won the game with a strike ten minutes from time, but Madden’s second on 82 minutes sent the game into extra time.

Roberts won the game for Slimbridge with two strikes in extra time.

He put the Swans ahead on 95 minutes and completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot on 116 minutes .

The Swans entertain Reading Town on Saturday (3pm) in a Hellenic League Premier Division encounter.

Slimbridge also have a rearranged GFA Challenge Trophy third round tie at home to Hallen next Tuesday.
