FOREST Green are carrying out an internal investigation after a small number of Newport County fans clashed with club stewards during the Boxing Day match at the New Lawn.

A club spokesman said: "Forest Green Rovers are carrying out an internal investigation (and working with police) to determine the cause of and those involved in the crowd disturbance that occurred just before half-time in the Newport County match on Boxing Day."

The club are asking any fans and members of the public who may have witnessed the incident to contact the head of matchday operations at trevor.saunders@fgrfc.com or call 01453 834860.

Police are investigating the fracas and would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information about those involved.
