SLIMBRIDGE’S slump in home form continued as they fell to their third 1-0 defeat at Wisloe Road in a week.
A bitterly cold night produced a dour, uninspiring spectacle for the small crowd, with the game decided on 70 minutes when Robert Pearson’s turn and shot netted the only goal of the game for lowly Abingdon.
Despite home pressure, and Marvyn Roberts managing to hit the woodwork twice, Abingdon held on for only their fifth league win of the season.
The Swans are still second but now trail league leaders Marlow by 11 points.
Boss Leon Sterling will be looking for a positive response when Slimbridge make the long trip to Holyport on Saturday for another league encounter.
Slimbridge visit Ardley United in the AM Print & Copy Floodlit Cup third round next Tuesday.
