CAM BULLDOGS were knocked off the top of the table by title rivals Gala Wilton.

The home side started very brightly in the first 15 minutes but the game then evened out before Gala opened the scoring midway through the first half in controversial circumstances after Aaron Booth appeared pushed in the back when defending the cross into the box. Cam striker Adam Philp went close in the second half and an Ashley Caldwell header scraped the crossbar.

Gala looked very lively up front but Cam dug in and dominated midfield with Booth and Caldwell superb.

Cam kept pushing everyone forward in search of the equaliser, but were caught on the break late on as Gala doubled their advantage.

Boss Simon Penny said: “It was a very even game. I would’ve been happy with a draw and I think we deserved a draw.

“It was a very good game of football, quite feisty at times, and typical of a first against second game with a good old battle.

“We want to bounce back and we’ve got to play Gala Wilton again this season in the league and cup final.”
