Gloucester Premier: Southmead 12 Dursley 10
11:55am Thursday 14th March 2013 in Gloucestershire Sport
CAPTAIN Tom Broomfield is “massively confident” that Dursley can still stay up after they suffered a narrow defeat at Southmead.
Chris Perrett scored both Dursley tries, which went unconverted, in the first half but for the second week in a row they squandered a lead to remain bottom of the table.
However, things may have been different if Josh Kelly and AJ Caddick didn’t have tries controversially ruled out in the first half. With only two teams expected to go down and just three points separating the bottom four, Broomfield insists his side’s hopes are still alive.
He said: “I’m massively confident. Technically if we scored four tries and beat Southmead we would be fourth from bottom so we’re still confident we can get out of it.”
Dursley held a 10-5 lead at the break after Southmead scored an unconverted try at the end of the first half.
The visitors spent a lot of time defending in the second half and Southmead eventually went through for a try, with the successful conversion giving them victory.
