Dale's red is rescinded
FOREST Green's appeal against Dale Bennett's red card from Tuesday's game at Welling has been upheld - meaning Bennett is eligible for selection against Cambridge this weekend.
The 23-year-old was dismissed in the 65th minute of the Skrill Premier clash after Wings midfielder Lee Clarke went down in the box and referee Lee Swabey pointed to the spot before showing Bennett a straight red card.
The Football Association's Regulatory Commission met today to consider Rovers claim and based on the evidence present to the panel, they deemed the red card to be a case of 'wrongful dismissal' and Bennett's automatic one-game suspension was withdrawn.
Forest Green had come back from 2-0 down to level the match at 2-2, before the penalty and red card turned the match, with Welling running out 5-2 winners against a 10-man Rovers.
