Football: Slimbridge unable to take advantage after Chandler opener

Radstock Town 2 Slimbridge 1

SLIMBRIDGE'S revival was halted by a potentially costly defeat at Radstock Town.

After the Swans took an early lead through Danny Chandler, two second half goals won the game for the home side.

Slimbridge now go in to a difficult series of games against teams at the top end of the table and will be looking to improve on this showing as they continue to move away from the bottom of the table.

Radstock were coming into the game off a period of instability, which included cancelling their last first team fixture, and Chandler's opener on 13 minutes gave the visitors the advantage.

The home side had the opportunity to bring the game level ten minutes into the second period when Jordan Townsend was brought down in the box, but Dave Evans made a good save from Adrian Harvey's spot kick to maintain the visitors' advantage.

Ten minutes later, though, the scores were level when Jordan Townsley headed in Callum Elms' cross.

On 75 minutes, Radstock took the lead with a 40-yard effort from Jack Seymour that deceived Evans in the air, much to the delight of the home crowd.

Although Chandler and Liam Harding both went close, Radstock held on to notch a crucial three points.

The Swans remain in 16th place.

Slimbridge entertain high-flying Gillingham Town, who are currently second, at Wisloe Road on Saturday (3pm).

Their trip the following weekend to Bristol Manor Farm, originally scheduled for Saturday, December 21, has been moved to Friday, December 20, with a 7.30pm kick-off.
