Matthew Barnes-Homer departs Forest Green for Cambridge United
FOREST Green striker Matthew Barnes-Homer has moved to Skrill Premier rivals Cambridge United on a free transfer.
The much-travelled forward joined Rovers in August from Macclesfield Town after becoming a free agent and was handed a two-year contract by former manager David Hockaday in the final signing of his tenure.
He made 10 starts in the Skrill Premier and also appeared eight times as a substitute and found the net five times. He also played four cup games, scoring once.
Barnes-Homer is the first Rovers player to leave The New Lawn since the arrival of new manager Ady Pennock in November.
Pennock said: "Myself and the club thank Matthew for his efforts and wish him all the best."
Elsewhere, a decision on Eddie Oshodi's Forest Green future will be made on Monday. The former Watford defender is on trial at League One outfit Brentford.
Striker Reece Styche is to remain at the New Lawn despite speculation linking him with a move to Grimsby Town. The fans' favourite impressed when coming off the bench in last night's 1-1 draw with Hereford United and Pennock is keen to keep him on board.
Meanwhile, young forward Saul Williams has gone on loan to Paulton Rovers in the Southern League Division One South and West - two steps below Forest Green on the football pyramid. He had previously been on loan at Oxford City this season.
