Dursley 6 Hucclecote 59
AN INJURY-RAVAGED Dursley side suffered a heavy defeat at home to Hucclecote.
The hosts started the match with several players out of their normal position.
The early part of the game saw Hucclecote kick two simple penalties to take a 6-0 lead.
With 12 minutes gone Hucclecote added an unconverted try, extending their lead to 11-0.
A few minutes later Dursley closed the gap to 11-3 after fly half Grant Boucher kicked a penalty with the advantage of an extra ten yards for Hucclecote player dissent.
Hucclecote then entered a five minute purple patch, adding two tries and one conversion, taking the score to 3-23.
With ten minutes left in the first half Hucclecote scored a further converted try but some excellent defence by the Dursley squad averted several certain try scoring opportunities, bringing the half time score to 3-30.
The second half saw Dursley up the tempo with some determined play by hooker Alex Budd and flanker Ollie Steel but the scoreline remained unchanged until the half way mark when Boucher stepped up to add a further three points from a penalty in front of the posts.
Hucclecote continued to press and scored a further five tries and two conversions.
Dursley coach Alan Evans felt that the scoreline did not reflect the effort that his side had put in and hopes that they can build on the performance before their next match on January 25 away to league leaders Newent.
