Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division One

Cam 2 Broadwell 3

LEAGUE leaders Cam Bulldogs squandered a two-goal lead against Broadwell Amateurs, who leaped up to second in the table and closed the gap at the top to two points with a stunning comeback win.

In front of a big crowd, Broadwell started well and had the best of opening 15 minutes, but it was Cam who scored first.

Arron Booth played in Luke Morrissey, who beat his man out wide to send a lovely cross for Adam Philp and he rose highest to head home from 10 yards.

Cam lost their inspirational captain and centre half Chris Lindsay at half-time to a knee injury but that didn't seem to be a problem when they increased their lead on the hour.

Booth unleashed an unstoppable low drive from outside the box to put Cam fully in charge – or so it seemed.

Broadwell went for broke, pushing an extra man up front with great success.

They pulled a goal back after a shot from 25 yards gave goalkeeper Ben Jagger no chance.

Two minutes later the same player headed home from eight yards.

Before Cam could draw breath, the turn around was complete, with a looping header going over Jagger and into the net.

Three goals in seven minutes is not what Cam manager Simon Penny is used to but the Lindsay injury had a massive bearing on the game.
